Guide
Dogs and cats lick floors and lie on upholstery, and the bowls sit on the floor. Cleaning-product residue stays exactly there. Hot micro steam cleans with water alone and leaves no residue where your pet eats, licks and lies. This page shows step by step how it works.

Hot micro steam at around 180 °C cleans floors, upholstery and the area around the bowls with water alone. It leaves no residue where dog and cat lick and lie, and reduces germs through heat (source: CDC, Sexton 2011). On upholstery and carpets it also lowers the house dust mite allergen (source: Vojta 2001).
Pets live close to the surfaces we clean. Dogs and cats lick floors, they lie on upholstery and blankets, and the bowls sit on the floor all day. If you clean these spots with a product, residue stays exactly where the animal eats and licks.
Many cleaners also contain fragrances and preservatives that are considered contact allergens. Methylisothiazolinone was named Contact Allergen of the Year in 2013 and is found in cleaners, among other products. Then there is the odour. A scented spray only masks the pet odour on the pet bed or favourite spot, it does not remove it. Soon after, the smell is back.
Exactly where dog and cat lick and where the bowls sit.
Considered contact allergens, often found in cleaners and sprays.
A scented spray masks the pet odour instead of removing it at the source.
Inside the device, tap water is heated under pressure to around 180 °C. The fine, hot steam lifts dirt and hair out of fibres and off surfaces, with no cleaner at all. So no film of product is left where your pet licks and lies. The heat also reduces germs on the surface.
On upholstery and carpets, steam lowers the house dust mite allergen; that was measured in a study. And the odour on the pet bed, on blankets and at the favourite spot, the steam tackles at the source instead of masking it. How the heat works in detail is explained in the micro steam overview.
No spray, no fragrance. One device, the right attachment, hot steam.
From a pet owner's point of view, what matters is what stays on the surface where the animal lives.
| Hot micro steam | Conventional cleaner | Scented spray, odour remover | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it works | Heat lifts dirt and hair | Chemicals dissolve dirt | masks the odour |
| Residue where pets lick | none, water evaporates | Film of product possible | Fragrance film remains |

„At a demonstration I start with the animal's favourite spot. That is where you see fastest that the steam works with no product at all."

Moist heat reduces micro-organisms (CDC). Saturated steam lowered surface germs by over 90 % (Sexton 2011).
CDC · Sexton 2011Steam lowers the house dust mite allergen on upholstery for longer than vacuuming alone (Vojta 2001).
Vojta 2001Substances from cleaning products act as allergens (DermNet) and pollute water bodies (UBA, EU).

Frequently asked questions
Yes. Only water vapour is used, no cleaner. Once dry, nothing is left on the surface that a dog or cat could lick off. Keep your pet away during steaming; afterwards the spot is free again.
The hot steam tackles the odour where it arises: in the pet bed, in blankets and at the favourite spot. It removes the source instead of masking it with fragrance.
Yes. Vacuum the pet bed and blankets first, then steam them and let them dry. That way you work on the fabric with no detergent and no residue.
Remove the litter and steam the floor around the tray. Steam the tray itself while empty. That way you work on the odour without laying a scented spray over the surface.
No. Steam cleans surfaces and fabrics; it is not a flea or parasite treatment. An infestation is a matter for the vet. Always discuss it with your vet.
With the same device you also clean floors, grout joints, the bathroom, mattresses and the vehicle interior. At the free demonstration we show it on your own surfaces.
Talk is cheap. A free demonstration shows in a few minutes what micro steam achieves at your pet's favourite spot. Without obligation, throughout Styria.
