Clean your car interior with steam

In the car, dirt, crumbs and odours collect in the upholstery, crevices and at the ventilation. Harsh interior cleaners leave behind fragrance and residues, right in the tight space you sit in every day. Hot micro steam loosens dirt with pure heat and reaches into every crevice, entirely without chemicals.

Cleaning the vehicle interior with hot steam
In short

Hot, fine micro steam cleans upholstery, crevices and vents in the car with heat alone, without harsh cleaners. It reduces germs and, on fabric seats, lowers the mite allergen (proven: CDC, Vojta 2001).

Why the interior is so hard to clean

Upholstery and carpet absorb dirt, moisture and odours. What's once inside sits deep and no longer comes out with a cloth.

No cloth reaches into the crevices, seams and ventilation vents. That's exactly where the dirt lodges, which you only push around when wiping.

Chemical interior sprays mask odours and leave residues right where children and allergy sufferers ride along. Many cleaners contain irritants that are considered contact allergens. [Source: DermNet]

Dirt sits deep in the upholstery

Fabric and carpet absorb everything. A cloth only takes the surface with it.

Crevices and ventilation vents

Tight gaps and vents stay unreachable; the dust collects there.

Odours instead of an air freshener

Sprays only mask. The source remains and soon smells through again.

How steam works in the car

The fine steam, around 180 °C hot, penetrates upholstery and crevices. The heat loosens dirt and reduces germs, even where you can't reach with a cloth. [Source: CDC]

Because the steam contains very little water, the upholstery stays only slightly damp and dries quickly. That's especially important in the car, where moisture otherwise lingers in the fabric for a long time.

In vehicles with fabric upholstery, the mite allergen is an issue too. Steam lowers it. [Source: Vojta 2001] How the heat works in detail is explained in the micro steam overview.

Cleaning the car interior with steam, step by step

Without spray, without air freshener. One device, the right attachment, hot steam.

  1. Vacuum out roughly. Vacuum up crumbs, sand and loose bits first. That way the steam afterwards only works on the stuck-on dirt.
  2. Steam the floor mats separately. Take out the mats and go over them individually. They're usually the most soiled.
  3. Steam seats and upholstery strip by strip. Guide it over the fabric in calm strips and pick up what's loosened straight away with the cloth.
  4. Crevices, seams and ventilation vents with the narrow nozzle. The fine jet reaches where no cloth can.
  5. Leather and delicate surfaces only briefly. Steam carefully and briefly with the right attachment, then wipe dry immediately.
  6. Leave the doors open and air out. The low residual moisture dries quickly; the interior is usable again right away.

Chemical interior cleaner, wet vacuum or micro steam?

Three ways to a clean interior. The difference lies in what stays behind and where you can reach.

Frequently asked questions

Answered briefly and honestly.

Can I clean leather with steam?

Yes, but carefully. Leather is steamed only briefly and with the right attachment, then wiped dry straight away. That way the surface is spared.

Does the upholstery get wet?

No, it only gets slightly damp. Because the steam contains very little water, the residual moisture is low and the upholstery dries quickly. Done correctly, there is no risk of mould.

Does it help against odours?

Yes. The steam tackles the source of the odour instead of masking it, and reduces germs through the heat. An air freshener only masks; the steam goes to the cause.

Is this suitable for child seats?

Yes. Precisely where children sit, cleaning without chemicals makes particular sense. No cleaner residues stay behind.

Do I need a cleaning agent?

As a rule, no. Hot steam from pure tap water does the work; the heat loosens the dirt.

What else does the device clean?

With the same device you can also clean mattresses, grout joints and the oven. At the free demonstration we show it on your own surfaces.
